Thanksgiving and Immigration Coloring Sheet
Happy Thanksgiving! I have a new passive program for you guys😋🦃🍗
I drew up a couple coloring sheets that show the push and pull factors of immigration in ways that little kids can empathize with. The immigrants shown are my great-grandmother, my great-great-great-great-grandfather, and the pilgrims on the Mayflower. The children are encouraged to visualize and color in what their own ancestors must have looked like and consider what they might have gone through.
The second page describes the compassion that Squanto and the Native Americans showed during the pilgrims’ time of need. While these kids are young and I can’t exactly go into the genocide of the indigenous peoples that followed, or the discrimination faced by immigrants in present day, it’s never too early to talk about sharing and empathy with little kids.
